Join the YWCA Women’s Golf Group! Have fun and improve your game!

Play golf in a scheduled foursome every Wednesday, Saturday or select Friday evenings from May through July. We will arrange for a golf pre-party before the season starts. More details will come…the date is tentatively set for Thursday evening April 30.

How does the group work?
Send in the enrollment form and you’ll be mailed a schedule which pairs you with three other golfers for play on Wednesday, Saturday or Friday evening at the public golf course at Oak Hills (about 5 minutes from Costco on Post Road) or South Pine Creek a par 3 course in Fairfield about 20 minutes away off of I-95. Greens fees payable each week you play. Pull carts and riding carts are available for rent.

Do I need to be a good Golfer?
No! Anyone who can play a very basic game will be fine. Beginners should take a few lessons first and can join later in the summer if they wish. On the registration form, there is an optional refresher course with the golf pro at Oak Hills.

How much time do I need to play?
To play 9 holes takes about 2 to 2 ½ hours, and 18 holes takes 4 hours. We will mostly play only 9 this season. Plan to arrive 15 minutes before starting tee time.

How are tee times arranged?
The pairings schedule will designate a “captain” for your foursome that week. This responsibility rotates among players. The captain obtains a tee time a week before play, and lets the other group members know. If you are playing at Oak Hills, you would need to provide an accurate number of golfers 24 to 48 hours prior to playing or else the credit card will be charged.

What if I am not sure about my schedule?
You can indicate on the enrollment form which dates you can play. BUT PLEASE REMEMBER that the golf group can only work if the scheduled members play and the captain obtains the tee time the week before. If this arrangement doesn’t work for you, sign up to be a substitute.
