FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 3rd Annual YWCA Cookie Swap Ladies Night Fundraiser to be Hosted by Good Food Good Things
DARIEN, CT – October 27, 2011 – The YWCA Darien/Norwalk has planned their Annual Cookies, Cocktails and a Cause Ladies Night for Wednesday, November 30th at Good Food Good Things boutique located at 865 Post Road in Darien. Non-members and members are invited to attend this cookie swap and cocktail party benefit that will be held from 7:30-9:30. Advance ticket purchase is required at the YWCA Darien/Norwalk website. Event festivities include a holiday cookie swap (which is optional) and cookie contest for those who bring a recipe which will be judged by the new baker at Diane Browne Catering. Wine and other beverages will be served along with delicious hors d’oeuvres prepared by Diane Browne Catering. Women who bring cookies for the swap and contest can take home an assortment of the cookies from other attendees. Attendees can also get a head start on their holiday shopping at Good Food Good Things while they enjoy the festivities. 10% of the evening’s sales will be generously donated to the YW. The centerpiece of the event will be a raffle of fantastic prizes with a total value of over $2000 donated by local merchants including Barrett Books, Beadz Boutique, Becker Salon in Greenwich, Equinox, Jade Nails, Juliska, Learning Express, Rory’s, Runner’s Roost, and Spree. Women attending can also make donations to the YWCA Darien/Norwalk by purchasing a gift for the YWCA Community Tree. Raffle tickets and donations can be purchased with cash or checks only. This is the 3rd year the YWCA Darien/Norwalk has planned this benefit event. Last year’s event was held at Palmer’s Market and over 90 women attended, bringing over 2,000 cookies and over $3,000 in donations to the YWCA and its community service programs. “We’re thrilled that Good Food Good Things offered to host this year’s event and so many local merchants generously donated raffle prizes! The proceeds from the raffle and donations to the YWCA Community Tree will help us meet the needs of our community service programs,” said Ellen Kirby, Executive Director of the YWCA Darien/Norwalk. The YWCA Darien/Norwalk’s community service programs include YWCA Parent Awareness with lectures to provide support and guidance to parents in our community and scholarships for the YWCA Job Search Support Program which provides women with the support and tools needed to find employment. Space is limited so all attendees must purchase tickets in advance for $20 at the YWCA Darien/Norwalk website at www.ywcadariennorwalk.org prior to November 29th.
