The YWCA Parent Awareness Network and Darien Library Present
“Nurturing the Arts” Panel Presentation
DARIEN, CT – October 13, 2011 -Darien Library and the YWCA Parent Awareness Network present a panel discussion, “Nurturing the Arts,” that will explore the value of art in a child’s life that can lead to a prosperous fulfilling career. If you have wondered how to encourage your child’s natural artistic ability, join our experts who work within the arts, parents who have gone through the process of sending their artistic children off to college and teens who are active in the arts, as they share their experiences. This program will take place on October 26th at 7 p.m. in Darien Library’s Community Room.
From a very young age, participating in the arts can enrich a child’s life, expanding their future educational, extracurricular, and occupational opportunities. Our panelists will share expert and personal experiences that demonstrate the importance of art in the lives of children and teens.
Panelists to include: Ben Larrabee noted local photographer, Bob Kernen, Emmy award winning writer, Malcolm Karlan, Middlesex Middle School Orchestra Director
In addition, Darien High School youth will participate on the panel and the DHS Jazz ensemble will play prior to panel. “Nurturing the Arts” is part of “Fall Into Art,” Darien Children’s Library’s Fall Art Series. For a full list of programs, please visit darienlibrary.org/youth.
