WHAT EVERY PARENT SHOULD KNOW”
Program to be held Wednesday, October 19th, 9:30-10:30 AM
DARIEN, CT – October 6, 2011 — Children everywhere are facing issues with the Internet. Are you aware of the Internet issues that have come up at our own middle school? To address this important topic, YWCA Parent Awareness and the Middlesex Middle School Parent Association are joining forces to present, “Middle School and the Internet: What every parent should know.” The event will take place on Wednesday, October 19th, from 9:30-10:30 AM, in the Middlesex Middle School Auditorium.
This discussion is designed to help parents better understand what issues and pitfalls your middle school children may face online, including issues that have actually arisen at Middlesex. It will also discuss how parents can help provide kids with boundaries and supervision. The panel of experts will be moderated by Middlesex Middle School principal, Dr. Debi Boccanfuso, and will include local examples from Mark Cappelli, Youth Officer from the Darien Police Department, and Edward Moran, a clinical social worker from Family Centers
The program is free of charge, and parents with children in upper elementary school and above are encouraged to attend.
Parent Awareness is a YWCA program that promotes the healthy, positive development of Darien youth and families.
