YWCA membership is not required to participate in dance
The Darien School of Dance is proud to include the AMERICAN BALLET THEATRE® National Training Curriculum, a breakthrough 8 level program that combines high quality artistic training with the basics of dancer health and child development. The ABT® National Training Curriculum consists of a comprehensive set of age—appropriate, outcome-based guidelines to provide the highest quality ballet training to dance students of all ages and skill levels.
Brigita McLeod, Director and Stamford resident, received her early dance training at the Boston Ballet and Boston Conservatory. She later earned a full scholarship at Steps in New York City while performing for industrials, commercials and musicals though out the United States. Her performance background has also included appearances with several Boston area dance companies and an engagement with Norwegian Cruise Lines in Los Angeles as a featured lyrical dancer. Her twenty year teaching career includes ballet and jazz instruction at dance studios in Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, New Hampshire and most recently in Connecticut at St. Saviour’s School of Dance, Stamford Twin Rinks, Connecticut Ballet Center and Tully Health Center.
Brigita McLeod is an ABT® Certified Teacher, who has successfully completed the ABT® Teacher Training Intensive in Primary though level 3. Mrs. McLeod is also a Certified Master Teacher of the Leap ''N Learn early childhood dance method. Renee Gregory, a Darien resident, will be teaching Mom & Me, Pre-ballet and Ballet at the school. Mrs. Gregory has a BS in Dance and Business from Skidmore College and is now pursuing her Masters in Education. Missy Almy, a Darien resident and experienced dance teacher with a Masters in Education, will be teaching Tap and Pre-ballet.
