YWCA Darien/Norwalk Thanks Community for Supporting Women of Distinction
The YWCA Darien/Norwalk would like to extend our deepest thanks to everyone who supported the YWCA Darien/Norwalk Women of Distinction Awards & Luncheon held last Thursday, June 10 at the Country Club of Darien. The honorees included Maureen Bloom, Penny Glassmeyer, Marcia Meinerth, Meghan Moore, Charlotte Suhler, and Rachel Hathaway (as a Young Woman of Distinction).
This was the first year that the YWCA Darien/Norwalk organized this event to honor the contributions of local women and it was a smashing success with close to 250 women and men in attendance, far exceeding our goal of 200 attendees. The YWCA Darien/Norwalk Women of Distinction Awards & Luncheon highlighted the YWCA's mission to empower women.
Our heartfelt thanks to Darien resident and news correspondent Ashleigh Banfield for taking the time from her busy schedule to be our guest speaker and captivate the audience with a compelling speech.
We would like to extend our gratitude to state Representative Terrie Wood who provided citations from the state of Connecticut that recognized each of the YWCA Darien/Norwalk Women of Distinction. We also appreciated the attendance of other community dignitaries from Darien at this event including First Selectman David Campbell, Selectwoman Jayme Stevenson, Selectwoman Callie Sullivan, former First Selectwoman Evonne Klein and other community leaders.
